And Journey

About Me
Hi everyone! I'm Shivani Sharma, an aspiring travel journalist, eye doctor, and new mom based in the San Francisco Bay Area. Seeing new places and immersing myself in nature is truly what makes me the happiest. I love spontaneous trips and planning last minute adventures.

I have spent a good chunk of my life in school but let's be honest, I spent a lot of that time day dreaming of when I could start seeing the world outside the lecture hall. Now, I am an established eye doctor serving my community part time and on a mission to go EVERYWHERE.

Since I was a baby, I have loved being outside the home. My mom tells me when we travelled when I was a toddler, I refused to come home and threw tantrums on our way back from my favorite places because I just didn't want to leave.
Throughout college, I consciously made effort to explore places during any free time I got-Hawaii during winter break, a road trip from Vegas to Grand Canyon to Zion during summer vacation, or a medical mission trip to Honduras. I knew this was just the beginning. During my year off after undergrad, I again jumped at all opportunities I could- a dance competition in Michigan, tagged along with my dad to Bangalore, South India, took the scenic coast starlight overnight train from SF to Portland, family trips to various states, and jumped at the chance to interview for optometry schools throughout the east coast, an excuse to visit those charming states.
My passion for exploring the outdoors and traveling became more serious after graduating optometry school. I had worked hard to achieve my doctorate, and had pushed out my honeymoon by 1 year. So the day after graduation, I took off to Singapore and Bali for 3 weeks for our honeymoon. From then on it was a chain reaction- After every trip, I yearned for more as nothing has made me happier, and my list has kept growing, In the last 4 years, I've explored so much and my experiences have enhanced my life in such a beautiful way.
I thought about blogging my experiences a lot but never thought it was the right time. So here I am, finding the time to highlight the beautiful places I've seen and will see and why they inspire me. I want to help amateur travel lovers like me start getting out there, inspire, and create a new sense of purpose. Thanks for reading and I hope you're here to stay!
